Thread White and Boom - Fieldstone Fabric & Sew Worthy Mama
1 Pattern, 6 Ways: Patriotic Sewing with the Bloomin' Americana Collection

Hi! I’m Casey, from Sew Worthy Mama. I make quilt patterns designed with motherhood in mind. I’m so happy to be guest posting here today!
There’s something magical about a fabric collection that feels like summer before you even cut into it.
When Mallory at Fieldstone Fabric and I started talking about kits for my newest pattern, Thread, White, and Boom!, we had this goal: make it easy for quilters to start sewing something festive and heirloom-worthy—without overthinking the fabric choices.
Bloomin’ Americana was the patriotic collection Mallory had selected for her shop this year, so that’s what we went with, and let me tell you, it’s GORGEOUS! She sent over the SKUs she had purchased, and I mapped out which prints to use for each part of the quilt from there.
Two Kits, Six Ways to Sew It!

One of the most fun things about Thread, White, and Boom! is that it’s 1 pattern, 6 ways—you can make a quilt, a table runner, or a door hanger (3 finish options), and choose appliqué text “USA” or “250” (x 2 appliqué options)
Mallory created two kit options in the exact Bloomin’ Americana palette I used:
1) Quilt Kit (61” x 74”)
This kit is for the quilt top + binding in the Bloomin’ Americana fabrics.
2) Table Runner / Door Hanger Kit (14” x 51”) : SOLD OUT (but you can still grab the quilt kit to get these gorgeous coordinated prints!)
This kit is for the runner/door hanger top + binding, using the same coordinated look.
A quick heads up: kits include fabric for the top + binding. The pattern, backing, and batting are purchased separately.
Why a Kit Is Such a Joy (Especially for Seasonal Sewing)
Seasonal sewing is pure magic—until "fabric decision fatigue" sets in. A kit removes the friction so you can get straight to the sewing machine.
- No Color Guesswork: Rest easy knowing your reds match and your blues coordinate perfectly.
- See the Finished Look: You don't have to use your imagination! A kit gives you a proven sample view of the final design, so you know exactly how the prints will play together before you even start.
- Curated Low-Volumes: No more hunting for the perfect "background" print; it’s already picked for you.
- Beat the Rush: Seasonal collections sell out fast. A kit guarantees you have every print you need before the holiday arrives.
- Zero Procrastination: When the fabric is ready, you’re ready. Skip the "I'll order it later" phase and start piecing today.
You can go straight to the good part: cutting, piecing, and watching it come together.
Plus, seasonal fabrics tend to sell out or become hard to find everything you need in one shop the closer you get to the holiday. Kits ensure you have everything you need without pushing it on the timing.
The Fabric Pull: Why Bloomin’ Americana Is So Perfect

Bloomin’ Americana has that rare combination of:
- classic red/white/blue energy
- a slightly vintage, floral softness (so it doesn’t feel cheesy)
- enough print variety to keep things interesting, but still cohesive
When you’re making a project with bold appliqué (stars + fireworks!), you want fabrics that complement the design instead of competing with it. This collection does that beautifully.
Pro Tip: Art Gallery Fabrics are more resistant to fraying than some other brands. When doing fusible appliqué, that’s a huge plus!
A Peek at the Pattern (And Why It Pairs So Well With This Collection)

Thread, White, and Boom! is an Americana-inspired design featuring stars + fireworks fusible appliqué.
It’s bold enough to feel celebratory, but approachable enough to sew in little pockets of time—especially since appliqué is a step you can easily pick up and put down. I even did a good bit of my template tracing and cutting on the front porch swing while I watched my kids!
If you’re newer to fusible appliqué, don’t worry: I also wrote a full, beginner-friendly tutorial that walks you through the whole process (trace → fuse → cut → place → stitch), including stitch options + my exact settings + troubleshooting/FAQ.
You can read all about how the pattern came to be and the quilting revival of the 1970s in my Pattern Spotlight post.
