New Year 2026 Goals

Looking Back at 2025 & Goals for 2026

My husband and I have a tradition at New Years that I love. It came about when we bought our first house 11 years ago. Our house was built in the 1860s and needed a lot of work done. We had to carefully plan out what projects were most important and how to afford fixing them! Projects like new hot water heater, new gravel for the driveway, new roof for the garage, fixing leaks in the ceilings, oh the list can go on and on. But now it’s a tradition to think back each year of what we were able to accomplish, where we are lacking, and what goals or projects we need to focus on for the coming year (we’re looking at you driveway-again! And you, bathroom, with your leaks into our kitchen…).

This year, I find myself reflecting—on what I hoped to accomplish in my business, what actually happened, and what God placed in front of me instead. Running a small business is rarely a straight line, and 2025 was a year of some twists and turns!

Reflecting on My 2025 Business Goals

At the beginning of 2025, I set some ambitious goals for my business. At the time, I wasn’t working full-time outside of Fieldstone Fabric, and I had more flexibility during the school day while my kids were at school and my youngest attended preschool a few hours a week. Because of that margin, my goals reflected a season of more time—and I’m proud of how much was accomplished.

Goal #1: Release two new quilt patterns
 ✔️ Goal met!
I released the Let It Shine Quilt Pattern as well as the Quilted Maggie Dog Bed Pattern and Peekaboo Heart Pillow. Seeing these designs come to life—and then into your homes—was such a joy.

Goal #2: Host my first-ever Quilt Along
 ✔️ Goal met!
I hosted my very first Quilt Along for the Let It Shine Quilt and created weekly videos walking participants through each step of the process. Those videos are still available on my blog, and I love knowing they continue to serve quilters beyond the QAL itself.

Goal #3: Create a second digital course
❌ Not met—but replaced with something meaningful
While I didn’t create a second digital course, I did host an in-person Kids Sewing Camp in June for six students. Spending a full week teaching kids how to sew was incredible and a beautiful reminder of why I love teaching and creating in the first place.

Goal #4: Publish two blog posts per month
❌ Not met—but progress was still made
While I didn’t hit the monthly goal, I did publish 15 new blog posts, including two guest posts from Lisa of Wild Plum Lane Quilts and Jamey of Grace & Piece Quilting Co. I was also honored to be a guest blogger in return—writing for Lisa as well as Quilter’s Candy.

Goal #5: Create three freebies
✔️ Goal met (in a slightly different way)
I released one standalone freebie—the Let Me Count the Ways Valentine Hanging—and also shared two tutorials that included freebies: the Quilted Letter Banner and Fabric Valentine Cone Trees.

Goal #6: Grow by 1,000 followers across Instagram and email
 ✔️ Goal met!
This one truly surprised me. In 2025, Fieldstone Fabric grew by over 5,000 followers on Instagram and more than 3,500 email subscribers. I’m so grateful for this growing community and for every single person who chooses to support this little fabric shop.

While these goals were exciting to meet, there were SO many other wonderful things that happened too - like joining Sharon Hollands testing group of fantastic and generous quilters, and collaborating with several quilters throughout the year to offer you all quilt kits for their beautifully designed quilt patterns!

A Shift in Seasons (and Priorities)

As proud as I am of what 2025 held, the second half of the year looked very different than the first. This fall, I returned to working full-time as a teacher, and with that came a necessary shift in priorities.

Trying to give my best at my job, to my family, and to my business started to feel overwhelming. I found myself slipping into comparison—watching other quilting businesses and feeling inadequate for not doing more.

But this season has required a mindset change.

Instead of focusing on what I wasn’t doing, I began focusing on what I could do well within the time and space I have. For me, that meant recognizing that fulfilling orders and providing quality fabrics to my customers is my number one priority—and I’ve been able to meet that goal consistently.

That does mean that new patterns, tutorials, blog posts, and creative brainstorming aren’t always front and center in my brain right now—and that’s okay.

So… What Does That Mean for 2026?

Going into 2026, I know I’ll still be teaching full-time. I also know that I love owning and running Fieldstone Fabric—but I love my family more, and I want to be present with them in this season.

So my goals this year look a little quieter, a little gentler, and a lot more intentional.

Here’s what I’m hoping for in 2026:

1. Release one new quilt pattern
Designing quilt patterns still brings me so much joy, and I’m excited to release one thoughtfully created pattern this year—without the pressure of doing more than I can sustain.

2. Add a new fabric manufacturer to the shop
I am really excited about this one. There’s a fabric line I’ve been stalking for quite some time, and I cannot wait to add it to the shop so you can enjoy it too!

3. Invite four guest bloggers to Fieldstone Fabric
I’d love to feature four guest bloggers on the Fieldstone Fabric blog this year. If that’s something you’d be interested in, feel free to email me or send a DM—I’d love to chat.

4. Attend H+H Americas
This is both a business and a fun goal! I’m excited to expand my horizons, learn alongside other quilters, and enjoy being part of the creative community.

5. Sell at a new-to-me quilt vending event in May
I’ve enjoyed the two local quilt events I hosted a table at this year, and I’m excited to go to an even larger event this spring.

6. Continue growing email and Instagram by 1,000 followers
Slow, steady, and sustainable growth is the goal here.

7. Host a fun giveaway
Because giving back to this community is one of my favorite parts of running Fieldstone Fabric.

Let’s Do This Year Together

If you have goals you’re working toward this year, I’d love to hear about them. And if you’re interested in collaborating—whether that’s a blog post, a project, quilt kits for your patterns, or even meeting up at H+H Americas in Chicago—please reach out.

Thank you for being here, for supporting Fieldstone Fabric, and for giving me the grace to grow this business in a way that fits my life.

Here’s to a gentle, meaningful 2026 🤍

  • I’m not a blogger (yet) but I can suggest some.
Chelsea at She Sews Seams has been doing more quilting and she is so much fun.
Nicki at Pin Cut Sew is very informative and very laid back.
    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Linda! H+H Americas is a conference in Chicago for creative businesse such as quilting or yarn crafts, etc. Lots of companies within the creative industries come to network, educate, and show off their new products.
