Mother's Day Collection
With Mother’s Day approaching next weekend, I wanted to offer something special in my shop to honor the moms in our lives.
In November and February, I offered surprise curated bundles of fabric, and these were a big hit with my customers! There’s something fun and exciting to get fabric in the mail that’s a total surprise; a true gift to yourself! In November, customers took a personality quiz, and I curated fabric bundles to match the personality traits. In February, I sold “Blind Dates with Fabric” bundles. I secretly wrapped curated fabric bundles but told you all the “personalities” of the fabric choices. Customers then could choose which “Blind Date” they wanted. That was a busy two weeks cutting fabric and fulfilling orders. Thank you!
My sister gave me the idea to pair tea with fabric as a bundle. That blossomed into adding a handcrafted mug to the set, along with coffee if preferred over tea. I contacted the local coffee shop in my town, Wall Street Coffee Company, to see if I could purchase coffee wholesale for the gift sets. Then, I contacted a potter in the area and ordered custom quilt mugs.
Willahollow Pottery is located in Perry, Ohio. A friend took me there for my birthday this past year to make our own mugs. Mike, the owner, is married to a quilter (lucky guy!), and he agreed to make custom mugs for me. He’s such a kind man, and it was a joy working with him on this project.
I pulled fabrics from various fabric lines I carry, and added those to this gift set as well. I wanted you to be able to choose which fabric you like, but there’s also an option to be surprised! I love choosing fabric for you 😊
Along with the gift set option, I also curated fabric bundles in honor of my mom and mother-in-law. My mom loves to garden and read, and I knew the Willow fabric collection would be where I’d start my bundle. I centered the bundle around the Cottage Favorite daisy fabric. My mom started me with my sewing by signing me up for 4H as a 10 year old. She also encouraged me to take my first quilting class when I was in college. She’s modeled sewing for me throughout my life by sewing baby clothes, Halloween costumes, and Christmas stockings. Her love, though, is cross-stitching. Her talent is amazing.
My mother-in-law’s fabric bundle is centered about the Lovebirds fabric. I love the sweet little birds in this fabric! They remind me of sitting on my mother-in-law’s porch and watching the smallest bird fly into the tiniest nest I’ve ever seen in one of their bushes. I always cherish our Sunday’s together at their house, especially in the summer when we can relax on the porch and watch the kids play. My mother-in-law is crafty herself, and puts together the best table spread and birthday party set-ups for our kids.
I’m so blessed to have these two women in my life, and I hope they feel especially honored this Mother’s Day.
Do you still have the Mother’s Day gift set? The mug and coffee would be great for my husband for Father’s Day. And the fabric will be a treat for me! Thanks!
