The Ultimate Camp-Themed Kit: A Look at the Letters From Camp Quilt Kit

Hi, I’m Casey Chatham from Sew Worthy Mama, and I’m so happy to be a guest here on the Fieldstone Fabric blog today!

I create quilt patterns designed with motherhood in mind. My Letters quilt pattern, for example, has the best theme possibilities for your family. Just by choosing different fabrics, you can make a Letters to Santa (or Christmas Cards!), Love Letters, Letters to Troops, or Letters From Camp version. Or, you can use it as a signature quilt for special events and milestones like baby showers, weddings, birthdays, or retirement parties.

In fact, I’ve made seven versions of the Letters quilt…but never a Letters From Camp quilt. When Mallory first shared her new Happy Camper fabrics…I knew I was finally going to make one! When she agreed to curate a special quilt kit for the theme, I knew it would be even better than I imagined.

Today I’m sharing the story behind the Letters quilt pattern, a peek at the Letters From Camp quilt kit, and the first photos I have as I get started making my quilt. Later on, we will share a follow-up post with in-progress tips and finished quilt photos.

Meet the Letters Quilt

The Letters Quilt is a modern patchwork quilt made up of open envelope-shaped blocks. What I love most is how flexible it is. As I mentioned above, just the choice of fabrics can create various themes. The structure stays the same, but the story changes depending on the fabric you choose.

It can be:

  • A sentimental “snail mail” quilt
  • A holiday quilt (hello, Christmas Cards and Letters to Santa)
  • A memory quilt for graduations, retirements, and big life seasons
  • A baby quilt that feels timeless instead of trendy

In other words, the Letters Quilt is one of those patterns you can come back to again and again, because a change in fabric theme totally changes the mood.

From a skills standpoint, it’s designed to feel doable:

  • Beginner-friendly
  • Fast to piece (without feeling boring)
  • Scrap friendly and fat quarter friendly
  • Comes in two sizes: Baby and Throw

One of my favorite features is the efficient piecing method that makes 4 blocks at a time. It keeps the process moving and helps the quilt come together quickly. Plus, it’s a handy skill to have in your back pocket for future projects and inspirations!

About the Letters From Camp Quilt Kit (Fieldstone Fabric)

If you love the “order, cut, sew” feeling of having everything coordinated and ready to go, the Letters From Camp Kit is going to be your best friend.

Mallory curated this kit so you get the delight of a thoughtful fabric pull, without having to overthink every decision or scrutinize dozens of fabrics for perfectly coordinating shades.

This kit includes:

  • Fabric for a Throw size (50.5” x 63”) quilt top + binding
  • A curated fat quarter selection from Art Gallery Fabrics, pulled from a mix of collections including:
  • Happy Camper
  • Heirloom
  • Juniper
  • Kindred
  • Plaid of My Dreams
  • Your choice of background in 3 AGF Pure Solids options:
  • Rosemary (green)
  • English Toffee (dark brown)
  • Macchiato (tan)

A quick heads up so there are no surprises:

  • Kits do not include batting, backing, or the pattern.
  • You can add backing to your order. I went with Retro Blooms (navy floral), and my next choice would be Jamboree.

Because these kits are very limited, if you want one, do not wait!
